Conventional wastewater treatment is not sufficient to treat tannery wastewater. Many organic pollutants are difficult to degrade biologically and need further treatment such as by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). This review summarizes and discusses the state of the art of AOPs utilization for tannery wastewater, namely: Fenton oxidation, UV iradiation, sonication, ozonation, and combinations of these methods.

Keywords: Advanced oxidation processes, wastewater, tannery.
