TECHNOLOGY LATEX POWDER PROCESSING WITH COUNTER CURRENT HOT AIR FLOW IN TUBES CYLINDER

Abstract


This study aims to obtain the latex powder materials by using counter current hot air that flowed in the tube cylinder. Materials used were concentrated latex diluted with 2.5% ammonia. Each treatment consist of latex with volume 1,000 mL sprayed in to the tube cylinder by using spray gun. The treatmen were hot air temperature consist of (60; 80; 100) oC. Concentrated latex was sprayed from the top of the cylinder tube and the hot air sprayed from the bottom head. Cylinder tube was made of acrylic material with a 75 cm in diameter. The lenght of distance from the top to the bottom of the cylinder tube which were latex particles pass through were 230 cm. The results showed that latex particles treated with the hot air at 100°C produced latex powder dominated by shaped granules of 91.20% and shaped powder of 8.72%.
